Exciting News and Steady Progress: Our Brexit Wales Photography Project Update

Rydym yn ffarwelio â Roger Tiley oherwydd ymrwymiadau personol, ond eto mae'r gorwel yn bywiogi wrth i ni groesawu dau ffotograffydd dogfennol eithriadol i'n tîm.

We bid farewell to Roger Tiley due to personal commitments, yet the horizon brightens as we welcome two exceptional documentary photographers to our team.

Yn gyntaf, Max Parker, ffotograffydd dawnus a feithrinwyd gan ddysgeidiaeth ein haelod Glenn Edwards ym Mhrifysgol De Cymru. Mae ffocws Max ar ddogfennu’r naratifau o fewn tafarn gymunedol yng Nghymoedd De Cymru yn dod â phersbectif unigryw i’n prosiect Brexit.

Firstly, Max Parker, a gifted photographer nurtured by the tutelage of our member Glenn Edwards at the University of South Wales. Max's focus on documenting the narratives within a community pub in the Valleys of South Wales brings a unique perspective to our Brexit project.

Yn ymuno â ni fel yr ail aelod newydd mae Lindsay Walker, sy'n enwog am ei dawn gwneud ffilmiau, er bod ei dawn adrodd straeon yn ymestyn yn ddi-dor i faes ffotograffiaeth. Mae ei rhaglen ddogfen 'The Welshman', sydd wedi ennill gwobr BAFTA, wedi ei gosod ar y blaen o ran rhagoriaeth adrodd straeon yng Nghymru. Mae angerdd Lindsay dros gysylltu â phobl yn cyd-fynd yn ddi-dor ag ethos ein grŵp.

Joining us as the second new member is Lindsay Walker, renowned for her filmmaking prowess, though her storytelling talent extends seamlessly to the realm of photography. Her BAFTA-winning documentary 'The Welshman' has placed her at the forefront of storytelling excellence in Wales. Lindsay's passion for connecting with people aligns seamlessly with our group's ethos.

Er y gall ein cyflymder ymddangos yn fesuredig, mae ffactorau amrywiol wedi cyfrannu. Mae Rhodri ar fin dychwelyd o'r Eidal i Gymru yn y flwyddyn newydd, tra bod Glenn yn gwella ar ôl llawdriniaeth. Mae Kristina yn llywio’r her o nodi ffocws penodol o fewn y gymuned yng nghanol y mewnlifiad cyllid, tasg sy’n profi’n fwy cymhleth na’r disgwyl.

While our pace might seem measured, various factors have contributed. Rhodri is set to return from Italy to Wales in the new year, while Glenn recovers from surgery. Kristina navigates the challenge of pinpointing a specific focus within the community amid the influx of funding, a task proving more intricate than anticipated.

Mae effaith Brexit ar Gymru yn ymweld yn fawr, ac mae ein prosiect yn profi i fod yn daith oleuedig. Wrth i ni baratoi i godi ein camerâu yn y flwyddyn i ddod, rydym yn ymrwymo i ddiweddaru ein blog yn reolaidd. Dani’n anelu i greu corff cymhellol o waith ar gyfer ein harddangosfa ddisgwyliedig yng Nghanolfan y Celfyddydau Aberystwyth yn 2026, i gyd-fynd â deng mlynedd ers Brexit.

The impact of Brexit on Wales looms large, and our project is proving to be an enlightening journey. As we prepare to wield our cameras in the coming year, we commit to regular updates on our blog. Our sights are set on crafting a compelling body of work for our anticipated exhibition at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre in 2026, coinciding with the ten-year anniversary of Brexit.
